English Willow Grading

Grade 4

Grade Four bats often have more than half the blade made up of red wood or prominent natural “butterfly” staining. They’re made from good quality willow and perform well, but typically have fewer grains and more pronounced knots, blemishes, and specks. Many Grade Four bats feature bleached willow, which makes marks less obvious and gives the blade a cleaner appearance. This Does Not affect Performance Grading is Based on looks

Grade 3

Very good quality willow that offers a balance between performance and looks. A popular, middle-of-the-road option, Grade Three bats are produced in large numbers and often represent the best value for money of any grade. Cosmetically, as much as half of the blade can be coloured wood, and you might find small knots or specks on any area of the bat. The face should typically have at least five grains, but they might not be as straight as on higher grades. This Does Not affect Performance Grading is Based on looks.

Grade 2

High-quality willow that often performs as well as Grade One but isn’t quite as cosmetically clean. Grade Two bats usually feature at least six visible grains on the face with perhaps the odd knot or blemish. Compared to Grade One, they may feature a larger amount of red wood towards the edge of the blade.

This Does Not affect Performance Grading is Based on looks.

Grade One

Top-of-the-range, premium willow selected for its performance and looks. Bats made with Grade One willow usually feature at least six visible grains on the face, and the grains should be straight. You may find some red wood on the edge of the blade, and there might be the odd knot or speck on the edge or the back, but the playing surface should be clean. This Does Not affect Performance Grading is Based on looks.

Build Your Custom Made bat

Type 1 - The mid to low sweet spot is great for players who love to play shots in the V and through the cover, and the larger sweet spot also aids aggressive players.

Type 2

A great shape that has a mid to low sweet spot with the spine running through the toe, and the wood more evenly distributed across the bat.

Type 3

It has a low middle which ensures you have sufficient power in the lower third of the bat. If you are aggressive, or a batter who mostly hits front foot shots, this maybe for you

Type 4

Type 4 This profile bat suits players with fast hands, and mainly back foot shots. More importantly, the profile has a high middle which suits players that play on fast and bouncy tracks.

Type 5 Convex

Looking for a powerful big hitter profile? This may be the shape for you. This has the same profile as the Type 1 but is a convex shape. Please note the lowest weight for these bats is 2:10

Warranty

As soon as your Cobra Cricket bat leaves us, it will be subjected to the usual wear and tear of cricket nets and matches. Willow is by its very nature, a soft wood that, when pressed, provides the rebound qualities required to strike the ball. Willow is a natural product, which can only take so much stress and strain. Damage will occur to your bat and it is part and parcel of the sport.

The life span of a bat should be measured by how much ball impact it sustains, not the length of time you own it. The customer who uses a bat seven days a week should expect it to break seven times quicker than that of the customer who uses it once a week.

Our warranty is honoured for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase, Please note Bats not manufactured by COBRA are Sold with a 6 Month Warranty. however depending on the cause, not all damage will be covered by this warranty. Some of the common causes of bat damage which are not covered by our warranty include:

All toe damage, caused by digging out a Yorker or use of excessive force in the toe area.

All impact damage to the edges.

Use of low quality balls or coloured pink & orange balls (coloured balls are almost always very hard balls with high seams resulting in excessive impact damage - unfortunately the majority of pink/orange balls are sub-standard and thus we don't provide a warranty against these in any circumstances).

Water/moisture damage.

Lack of preparation is a key factor in the lifespan of your bat and failing to properly prepare/knock-in your bat will result in your warranty being void. Unfortunately we have numerous cases of bats being used 'fresh out of the packet' recently which is something we as a company cannot be held accountable for. Whilst we offer our machine knocking-in service, this can only do so much and we still heavily recommend 'playing in' your bat with old balls/bowling machine balls before using your bats in earnest at the crease in a match play situation. All bats require 'playing in' prior to use to avoid damage, this is especially the case for toe and edge cracks. Bats that are used without any additional preparation will void warranty. Our knocking-in service does not offer any additional warranty to standard.

If you feel you have a genuine claim, please send images of the damage to cobracricket1717@gmail.com in the first instance. We will then advise on any further action upon inspection of said images.

Please do note it is very easy for us to tell how damage has occurred to a bat in almost all circumstances, so please be honest when explaining what has happened and we will do everything we can to rectify any situation - ultimately we want to ensure you are happy with your purchase, but it is the responsibility of the owner to look after their bat properly too.

With every bat returned to us, our team will assess any damage and advise on the most appropriate course of action once a cause of damage has been determined. On your email please include your original proof of purchase and contact details. Please note that we do not pay any inward postage costs.

All bats returned are assessed carefully by our team. This ensures that assessments are made by someone who understands the product and any damage that may have been caused. When looking at your bat, we will usually judge on the following criteria:

Nature of the damage

Its general condition

How it has been maintained

Where a bat has sustained significant damage inflicted by the player and there is no material flaw in the bat or the timber, repair work will be chargeable.

Our bats are manufactured carefully to provide the highest levels of performance and durability, but we are dependent on you, the owner and player, to continue our work by preparing, protecting and maintaining your bat.
